| The Diva Challenge
This is part of a larger group of tangles, of course.
The the roundish one in the center is called "Hamadox"...the challenge tangle for this week. VERY fun. In here is also Bugzy, and Fe-Ba and Lily-eyes. It is one of my 8.5 x 11 calendar pages. Sometimes I work on them for months. Sometime I finish them in days. Just depends on the moods, the times, and the opportunity.
I do question sometimes the "draw" of working on gridded paper like this and then hardly ever following the grid...but working all over it. I think psychologically it is energizing to defy the grid.
I've been thinking about that. Sometimes I enjoy being "inside" the box and comfortable. And sometimes I just need to draw all over in wide galloping tangles that defy all boundaries.
Just like life, huh?

| Calendar A Day
So my 2015 Tangle A Day did not get finished last winter.
Now I am filling it in using THIS year's date and days!
The Diva's challenge this week is Eaxy Tangle. I really really do not like this tangle!!! Once it is completed it is sort of cool looking but there is certainly nothing contemplative about making this one! STRUGGLE. Funny how some tangles just DO not resonate with me.
Merryweather is painted with Twinkling H20 watercolors so in real life they sparkle like crazy. A scan just doesn't show that of course.

| I DID like this new tangle pattern "Sea Wave". Perfect to me to help me "balance" my sadness and fear and lost feeling in reaction to the election results. We ride now on rough and uncharted seas. I thought Hillary's concession speech was amazing. I cried through the whole thing. What a class act. Grace under pressure. |

| Nzepple and Flux
I have never much taken to "Nzepple". But one of the example step outs for this was a "random" grid line instead of a diagonal grid line. I found that more interesting to me and a very different outcome! Like many, I prefer Rick's version of "Flux".
I often do my Diva Challenges on my blank calendars. I am not sure why but I enjoy the fun of interlocking the tangles. It's a great place to try out new tangles to see how they might fit into that sort of "string"effect. When the background is white, I sometimes "lighten" the cross lines on the calendar a little with a white pen to soften the effect and allow the pattern to show better.
It's great to be getting back into my routines a little here in Florida again. I am a bit behind now on my Ink-Tober challenge but to hope to get caught up again with that soon. And I have about 6 other artsy things going. Thanks to Susan, I've signed up and purchased a Craftsy Online Class on Urban Sketching so that needs to have some practice time too. Hubby is all set to attend his first model train show in Inverness on Saturday with a friend.
All is well.

I know, I know. 2017? January? WHAT is that?
What has happened is that I got caught up in Tangle A Day calendars for my daily Zentangle several years back. So after awhile you need to push out to something else and I found Tanglalendar which is a sub group of calendar nuts that is doing their calendar a different way. Stephanie puts out the blank formats for free, we download them and do our daily Zentangles as we wish. Posting on her Facebook group.
None of us makes much effort to let the # on the days even show up so it's not the kind of calendar you would actually use to track days! Obviously we don't even stay in the squares! It's totally fun. (Although many people do this differently than I do.)
You can also download free blank calendars online.
SO…I have this phobia about practicing my tangles on this format. And since I work fairly quickly, I have done all 12 calendars for 2016 already. You can actually find them under "Zentangle calendars" on the side bar on my blog. Crazy.
My goal is to use at least 3-4 brand new (to me) tangle patterns on each sheet.
